Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India, subsidiary of the British luxury car manufacturer has started the assembly of the two versions of XF sedan at its plant in Chakan near Pune, India.
The company manufactures the 3L and 2.2L variants of the sedan in which the former was previously imported from the UK.
Jaguar Land Rover India vice-president Rohit Suri said that the company's best-selling models in India are the Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Jaguar XF, and this has driven the move to build these products locally.
"This would enable us to provide our customers with a wider choice of competitively priced models," Suri added.
Features of the car include rear view camera, TV tuner, navigation system, optimised audio and navigation controls, front passenger seat away, touch screen, gear-shifting paddles, full-size spare wheel, electric sunroof and rear screen electric blind.
The company had already started production of the Land Rover Freelander 2 at the Chakan assembly plant in May 2011.
