Japanese carmaker Honda Motor in collaboration with Toyota Motor is planning to introduce fuel-cell vehicles in 2015.
Both the carmakers expect to produce 1,000 vehicles per annum.
Currently, Honda is developing a five-passenger sedan, which will be available for sale in November 2015.
The sedan will feature a hydrogen tank made from carbon fiber and can travel nearly 500km on a single charge, reported Nikkei Asian Review.
Honda will manufacture the new sedan at its Sayama plant in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The carmaker aims to produce 5,000 units over five years, targeting markets including Japan, the US and Europe.
Meanwhile, Toyota is also planning to roll out a sedan in Japan, the US and Europe in 2015. The new vehicle will feature two hydrogen tanks to offer more spacious cabin.
