Research in Motion today will launch its new BlackBerry 10 smartphone in what is its last chance to regain lost market share.

RIM's share of the smartphone market was a healthy 19.5 per cent in late 2008 (Apples iPhone then had 10.7 per cent share) but the Canadian maker has since been relegated to being a relatively minor player through the dominance of Apple and Android in the smartphone market. Last year they accounted for 87.1 per cent of global smartphone shipments with RIM registering just 4.7 per cent.
