Pexco Medical, a division of Pexco LLC, has purchased through its Spectrum Plastics operation a new 55-ton Roboshot injection molding machine for the purpose of developing new medical tools and advancing its biomaterial processing capability.
The press features advanced scientific molding techniques and capabilities and will be solely dedicated to new mold trials and development. The machine will expedite R&D and new product technology and allow for faster mold de-bug times. It is capable of running both heated and cooled molds. The innovative addition also includes:
Two different screw and barrel configurations to optimize shot size with part size Dedicated moisture analyzer, sprue picker and master unit frame Two new material dryers Dedicated hot water unit that can heat molds to 400 degrees Fahrenheit Air ejection capabilities Dedicated pressure monitoring system

Pexco Medical's Spectrum Plastics group is already known for its ability to process complex engineering resins, especially those suited to medical products, notably implantable surgical devices and fixtures. The site operation has served the medical market for over 50 years. It employs approximately 160 individuals within a 105,000 square foot facility, featuring two medical grade clean rooms, some 40 injection molding presses from 12 to 600 tons, and in-house engineering and product development capabilities, including assembly and packaging services.
