Huawei Has Reported a 19% Increase in Its First Half Revenue in 2014 to $21.8bn

In 2013, the company reported a 10.8% growth in the first half.

Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei has reported a 19% increase in its first half revenue in 2014 to $21.8bn, compared to last year, and 18.3% rise in the company's operational margin.

Huawei credited the growth to an increase in investment for LTE networks that helped the company gain leadership in mobile broadband.

In addition, the company also saw steady growth in software and services as well.

Huawei's CFO, Cathy Meng, said: "Our efforts in the enterprise business have begun to pay off. We have enjoyed accelerated growth in this area.

"We also achieved quality and sustainable growth in our consumer business thanks to the increase of brand awareness and smart devices sales worldwide.

"Our flagship smartphone, the Ascend P7, is being sold in more than 70 countries and regions. We are confident that in 2014 we will achieve sustainable growth, robust operations, and healthy financials."

The sale of Huawei's products in Middle East, Europe and Africa has contributed towards its growth in the first quarter of 2014, but the company has not been able to make a mark in US after the congressional report surfaced in 2012, which alleged that Huawei's equipment could pose threat to the US national security.
