BorgWarner Has Disclosed a New Production Plant and Engineering Center in Poland

US based auto-parts manufacturer BorgWarner has opened a new production plant and engineering center at the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park in Rzeszów, Poland.

Spread across 78,500ft2 space, the new production plant manufactures advanced chain-driven engine timing systems, including variable cam timing technologies, and provides expanded capacity for transmission components.

It is the company's second manufacturing facility in Europe and manufactures products for major European car manufacturers.

The new technical center, which covers 6,700m2 space, offers application engineering and research and development capabilities to create new technologies designed to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.

Covering more than 72,000ft2, the technical center provides capabilities for application engineering and research and development to create new technologies designed to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions while enhancing performance. Production for several major European car manufacturers began recently.

BorgWarner president and chief executive officer James Verrier said that the demand for their fuel-efficient technologies is likely to increase within the next few years, especially in Europe where Euro 6 emissions regulations take effect in 2014.

"The infrastructure of the Rzeszów area gives us the opportunity to meet growing customer demand through localized production," Verrier added.

BorgWarner is offering turbochargers for gasoline and diesel engines at its plant in Poland, since 2009.
