Kraft Foods has said it is"on track"to complete its three-year initiative to reduce salt in its North American portfolio by an average of 10%.
The company said yesterday(26 September)it has already cut salt by 10%in products such as Oscar Mayer bacon,Kraft grated parmasan cheese and Breakstone's 2%cottage cheese.In other products,Kraft emphasised it has"far exceeded"its targeted 10%reduction.For example,Kraft has cut the salt content of its Kraft original BBQ sauce by 40%.
In total,the US food firm revealed it has reduced the sodium content of more than 1,000 SKUs across 24 product categories.
"We[have]worked hard to make meaningful reductions in sodium,without sacrificing the taste,quality or safety of some of North America's favourite foods,"Russ Moroz,VP of research,development and quality,said.
