Mccain Foods Plans to Invest Inr3.5bn ($63.6m) to Boost The Production Capacity

McCain Foods, a frozen food company based in Canada, plans to invest INR3.5bn ($63.6m) to boost the production capacity of its plant in Mehsana, Gujarat, India.

This move is a part of the company's plan to address the increased demand from across retail, food service sector and quick service restaurants such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Subway.

McCain Food India Vikas Mittal was quoted by the Economic Times as saying that the company will be adding a third manufacturing line, which is expected to increase the facility's capacity by more than two times.

McCain Foods has invested about INR1.4bn ($25.4m) at its Mehsana facility since 2006. The new investment is likely to increase the workforce by 50%.

Currently, the company's products are available at 10,000 outlets across 60 towns across India. McCain plans to increase the presence to 50,0000 retail outlets within the next five years. Recently, the company has launched cheese-based snacks and is planning to unveil lentil-based snacks.
