City Cement has announced that it began production at its third mill on Tuesday.
The company said that it will build capacity over a two-to-three month period until full production starts at the mill, when it will be capable of producing 130 tons an hour.
It added that the financial benefit from the new line will begin to feed into its results during the second quarter of the year.
In the three months to March 31, City Cement reported a 38% year-on-year drop in profits to $11.8m.
The company blamed a breakdown in one of its mills which is used to grind clinker for the drop in earnings. The mill stalled in October last year and work didn t restart until February 2013.
