Brazilian authorities have imposed a ban on a batch of Mexico-made Heinz ketchup after traces of rodent fur were found in the product.
The government stated that it banned sales, distribution and marketing of the units from the affected batch.
Mexican authorities have initiated an investigation into the contamination and ordered an inspection of the facility where the product was manufactured in order to ensure proper standards are being followed
Heinz stated that the ketchup batch was shipped to Brazil in 2012; however, the product has been already taken out of circulation.
The company has been asked by the Mexican hygiene agency Cofepris to provide a 'detailed report' on the contaminated batch of tomato ketchup.
