ZTE and TeliaSonera to Cooperate on IOT Area Starting with Telematics

ZTE and TeliaSonera have entered into an agreement to provide IOT devices starting with telematics for the automobile industry.

At Mobile World Congress 2016, ZTE has signed a strategic agreement to jointly expand IOT market with TeliaSonera, the largest carrier in Nordic countries.

The two parties will cooperate on IOT areas, beginning with telematics. ZTEWelink, a subsidiary of ZTE, is dedicated to the development of wireless communication modules, telematics terminals and solutions, will undertake a major part of the telematics R&D process.

Hans Dahlberg, Head of TeliaSonera Global M2M Services, Jacky Zhang, Senior Vice President, ZTE Corporation, and Wang Zhijun, VP of ZTEWelink attended the signing ceremony.

ZTE Corporation, senior vice president, Jacky Zhang said: "The combination of ZTE's 4G technology and the innovative Telia Sense's service will enable users to have full control of their car and a growing ecosystem of features.

"Today, connected cars are only available to new and premium models but with this offering basically all of our customers can enjoy the benefit of a connected car.

"With this contract we show our strong position in the IOT area and our capability in connecting devices to a cloud of new range of services."

Since 2009, ZTE invested heavily in IOT, and proposed M-ICT strategy in 2014 to focus on industry informatization. Today ZTE has achieved fast development in IOT industry and Intelligent Patent layout.
