On April 12, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. starts the new round of "Golden Apple" program and signs letter of responsibility with 10 "Golden Apple" teams.
After 30 years of accumulation, Baosteel has mastered certain technical advantage. To truly become the best iron and steel enterprise in the world, Baosteel innovates R & D mechanism and launches "Golden Apple" plan in 2009. 5 "golden apple" teams, steel-making technology, hot-rolled plate technology, cold rolling technology, after cold rolling processing technology, automotive sheet products and application technology come into being. After three years' hard work, all five teams have borne fruit, developed a number of advanced technology and unique new products, formed more than 100 invention patents and 10 foreign patent applications.
At present, steel industry faces challenges in resource, environment and market. Baosteel assesses the situation and proposes that new round of development must aim at technology leadership. Through the implementation and deepening of new round of "Golden Apple" plan, Baosteel would like to focus on key innovation field and major technical difficulties, courage scientific and technological personnel to challenge difficulties, innovate and practice and achieve major technological breakthrough.
This round of "Golden Apple" plan set up 4 field teams including steelmaking and 6 project teams including rapid thermal processing. The field teams will carry out ongoing research and development by focusing on "forward-looking major technological breakthrough, overall technology level enhancement, site major technical quality puzzle-solving" and with the aim of keeping global or industry technical level leadership position. Project team will aim at key new product development, major technology research and industrial application, carry out key research. When implemented, it will greatly contribute to the company's recent and medium-term operating performance and technological competitiveness.
