Innovation company TOP bv has introduced a new compact food dryer.
For producers of food, especially of fresh produce, adding value to waste streams now becomes a lot more easy to achieve.
For economic reasons and from a sustainability perspective, it is an important step for a lot of food producers to be able to add value to their waste streams.
This is particularly relevant for producers and manufacturers of fruit, vegetables and potatoes, who can relatively easily extract high quality substances from their waste streams.
Food producers are increasingly trying to valorize their waste flows, but for a lot of them this recovery is not a priority: it happens separately from (or after) the core business. However, drying is a very suitable and easy technique, because it gives the product a longer shelf life and keeps it stable.
Conventional food dryers cover a large area, too large for most producers. That’s why a lot of companies stay away from processing waste streams.
It is because of this that TOP bv has developed the compact food dryer. This machine has the same capacity as the large, heavy-handed food dryers, but occupies only a small area in the factory. This makes the processing of waste streams more accessible for many companies. The first compact food dryers have already been put into use.
