Avnash Industries Ghana has opened a new $60m facility in Tema, Ghana, which has a production capacity of 500 tons of edible oil per day.
The new plant will enable the company to boost its production capacity to 1,500 tons per day in less than two years, with a storage capacity of 100,000 tons.
Avnash Group of Companies chairman Bhagwan Mirachandani said that the plant employs about 500 people but it will create over 2,000 jobs indirectly through sourcing of oil palm plantations.
Meanwhile, the company is set to open a rice milling plant, which will have capacity of 450 tons per day, in Tamale in April. It has also leased 30 acres of land at Buipe, Ghana to establish a 300 tons per day groundnut oil facility.
Avnash Industries Ghana, established in 2001, is involved in manufacturing of edible oil, rice, soaps and detergents, shea butter, liquors, beer, whiskey, biscuits and allied products; packing and branding of its products including PET and hard plastic containers.
