Nissan has commenced production of eighth-generation Maxima sedan at its Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Tennessee.
The company highlighted that the plant, which began operations in 1983 hit production of 648,000 vehicles by 2014.
Maxima sedan is the sixth model being produced in the Tennessee facility and later the company is planning to produce new versions of the Altima, Sentra and TITAN truck at the facility.
Nissan North America Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing senior vice president John Martin said: "Today is a great day for the plant.
"It's a culmination of a lot of hard work by an awful lot of people in Japan, in Farmington Hills at our R&D center, with our suppliers and, above all, with the team here."
The company also announced that the car will hit dealership this summer.
