Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP Foods) is reportedly planning to build a new shrimp processing plant in India.
The proposed shrimp facility will be built in proximity to the company's farms in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
CP Foods executive said: "This could be a new factory, or we might look to acquire a factory and renovate it.
"We'd like to get something near the farms."
The latest plans follow the closure of CP Foods' two shrimp plants in Thailand.
CP Foods plans to focus on head-on, raw and head-on, cooked shrimp products at its two other plants in Thailand, Undercurrent News reported.
Earlier this month, the company announced plans to increase its production in Vietnam this year to around 12,000 tons from the current 6,000 tons.
The Hue plant in Vietnam, which is close to the company's farms, will produce head-on, cooked and head-on, raw products.
