American auto-parts manufacturer BorgWarner is manufacturing two-speed, parttime four-wheel drive transfer case for Toyota Motor’s 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup truck in the US.
The auto-parts maker is currently manufacturing the transfer cases at its plant in Seneca, South Carolina. BorgWarner acts as the sole transfer case supplier for the Tundra model in North America.
Features of the transfer case include BorgWarner's electronic shift-on-the-fly technology, and HYVO transfer case chain. It offers quick, smooth shifts between two-wheel and four-wheel drive with the turn of a dial.
Using an electromagnetic-based synchronization system to synchronize the front and rear axle speeds, the transfer case switches between the two-wheel and four-wheel drive while moving.
BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems president and general manager Stefan Demmerle said that Toyota's decision to localize this key driveline component with BorgWarner confirms their reputation as premier transfer case suppliers for the automotive industry.
"We are pleased to support Toyota's manufacturing facility in Texas with our high-quality, proven technologies," Demmerle added.
