IALD challenges design teams to light a house with 100 watts

The IALD is challenging five teams of lighting designers to light an entire house with just 100W of energy.

Taking place this March in East London at the ‘House Next Door’, the five-day challenge has been designed to demonstrate the capabilities of new lighting technologies.

Rented out for the week by the IALD, the House Next Door consists of three floors. Each team is tasked with lighting a room in the house. Visitors will have the opportunity to compare the results each day, once different design teams have lighted up a specific room.

The teams of architectural lighting design consultants will be provided with a length of which LED tape (3000K) equating to 100 circuit watts.

They will also receive LED driver units, fixing methods and optical accessories, including linear diffusers, linear extrusions to mount the tape, linear lenses to focus the light and individual optics to create downlights or uplights.
