Mitsubishi Commences Manufacturing Vehicles at Santa Rosa Plant in Philippines

The Philippines division of Japanese auto maker Mitsubishi Motors has started production of vehicles at the company’s new plant at Santa Rosa, Laguna province.

The new plant occupies around 21.4 hectors, and is expected to have production capacity of 50,000 units which is more than the 30,000 units produced at the previously closed plant in Cainta, Rizal Provincee.

Santa Rosa, plant will continue production of Adventure andL300, models that were being produced at the previously closed plant in Cianta.

Mitsubishi has been operating in the country since 1963 and has reportedly been able to capture 18.6% of the market share with 48,793 units in 2014 which is more than 15 % increase from the previous year's market share.

Mitsubishi Motor CEO Masuko said:"The Philippine market is expected to show the most growth among the all the countries in the ASEAN region, which is the most important market for our company. Therefore it is positioned as one of the pillars of our ASEAN business.

"We will continue to do our best to contribute to development of the automobile industry and job creation in the Philippines."
