In an announcement on March 31, Montana-based Daily’s Premium Meats disclosed plans of setting up a new pork factory in St. Joseph, Missouri, with operations to start in May 2016.
With construction to commence in summer, the $41.5m factory will be employing 200 people working on the process of creating sliced-to-order natually hardwood smoked bacon.
Owned by Triumph Foods and Seaboard Foods, Daily's new pork plant will be right across the street from the fresh pork processing plant of Triumph Foods.
President of Daily's Premium Meats, Kelly Hattan, said: "Since 1893, Daily's has stood for the highest quality in premium meats, especially hardwood smoked bacon, and we're proud to carry on that tradition with this new plant. As part of an integrated food system, we look forward to the opportunities the new plant will offer our customers, as well as being part of the St. Joseph community."
Established in 1893, Missoula, Montana, by John R. Daily, the firm also runs a pork processing plant in Salt Lake City, Utah. Daily's provides the markets with various processed bacons, such as breakfast sausages, naturally smoked hams, applewood smoked bacon and its signanture honey-cured bacon.
The integrated food company Seaboard Foods, based in Guymon, Oklahoma, oversees farm operations as well as bacon processing, right till the pork product reaches the plate of the consumer. It has aligned pork processing and farm operations with Triumph Foods, including animal care, quality control and food safety, pig nutrition and genetics, in order to guarantee natural and healthy pork.
Both companies' plants provide Daily's premium bacon with the pork bellies. A five-member team of pork producers owns Triumph Foods.
Daily's came on to be an integral part of Seaboard Foods in 2005, while Triumph Foods bought half of the company's shares from Seaboard Foods, as recently as September 2014.
