Robotic packaging line manufacturer in the UK, TekPak, has launched a pick and place case packer, a flexible high speed system for vertical case packing quad bags, pouches and doy packs.
The new precision all stainless steel robot uses a Elau/Schneider control system, representing the latest development of the company with widespread applications, particularly for manufacturers of snack packs and bags, confectionery and coffee.
According to Tekpak's business development director Imelda Kehoe, the off-line/WIP (work in progress) automating operation is a major benefit for its customers, as it reduces product lead time and could impact on line efficiency.
"We have enquiries from the major UK confectionary and biscuit producers and already have installations in a major UK confectionary company who were keen to get a competitive edge,"
Case packers key features include a product transfer system which collates the products beneath the gripper, so the pick and place can handle a complete case formation.
According to the company, its line provides a product speed of 150/minute and a case speed of 10-15/minute.
