Ford is introducing multiple new displays in its exhibit at the 2015 North American International Auto Show highlighting the company’s drive to innovate.
Three new additions to the Ford performance portfolio - Ford GT, Shelby GT350R and F-150 Raptor - make their worldwide debut at the show and take center stage on the Ford stand. Acknowledging the company's commitment to vehicles that make people's hearts pound, Ford will introduce more than 12 new performance vehicles to its global lineup in the next five years.
Ford showcases performance at the show through an Enthusiasts' Gallery that features vintage photos depicting great moments in Ford racing history, historic Ford race engines and memorabilia from multiple racing series.
"Across Ford's lineup, from Fiesta to F-150, examples are featured of technologies tested and proven on paved and dirt racetracks, and then built into vehicles customers want and need," said David Tillapaugh, Ford global auto show operations manager.
Innovation Park at the Ford stand invites visitors to explore how Ford researchers are making advances in the use of organic materials, reducing waste and other environmentally sensitive technologies. The display includes water and plant elements that showcase Ford efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and water usage.
"Ford chose the park theme to showcase its innovation efforts because they are beneficial for customers - providing the latest generation of affordable and attainable safety, convenience, connectivity and comfort features within the full Ford vehicle lineup - and because they are good for the world," said Tillapaugh.
Trees, perennials, soils and water features from the Henry Ford Fairlane Estate create a relaxing atmosphere for visitors. Benches offer guests a place to recharge their own batteries, as well as their cell phones.
Visitors can become part of the action with overhead cameras that swoop through the display to capture images and video that appear on LED screens surrounding the park.
All seven of Ford's fuel-saving EcoBoost engines are displayed inside a blue oval at the heart of the Ford stand. The exhibit highlights the variety in driving and vehicle performance experiences Ford EcoBoost technology provides, with displays on the 1.0-liter EcoBoost-equipped Ford Focus, 2.0-liter EcoBoost Focus ST, 2.3-liter EcoBoost Ford Explorer and 3.5-liter EcoBoost Explorer Sport.
Guests are invited to play racing games designed around "Eco" and "Boost" themes. One rewards players for efficiency in maneuvering around a course, while the other encourages players to set the fastest time for racing miniature Fiesta cars around a track.
Ford and Revell - a worldwide leader in the hobby industry - are giving away special limited-edition F-150 Raptor model kits in the upstairs Enthusiasts' Gallery at the Ford stand to celebrate the debut of the all-new Ford F-150 Raptor, the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup in the company's lineup.
The free collectible model kit enables kids to build and then play with their own mini Raptor model.
The 20-piece Raptor model complements Revell's successful 2015 Ford Mustang promotional model kit jointly distributed with Ford at last year's North American International Auto Show.
