Intelligent sensors and analytic software developer Olea Sensor Networks has introduced OS-3005 technology to enhance a vehicle's existing seat belt systems.
The OleaSense software analytics is a seat belt vital sign monitor for automotive safety applications that can improve the seat belt systems based on Olea's sensor technologies.
The system does not require any external wires and does not have to be directly in contact with the body to operate.
It is smaller than a business card, and is capable of integrating seamlessly into existing automotive safety restraint systems.
It can identify occupants when used as a part of the infotainment system. By using Olea HeartSignature technology, the system can recall stored settings and driver preferences.
The HeartSignature can accurately and identify individuals with precision comparable to existing biometric authentication systems.
Olea CEO Frank Morese said: "The concept of seat occupancy detection monitoring requires a sophisticated sensing technology capable of capturing human vital signs in a reliable manner.
"By integrating the OS-3005 and OleaSense technologies, detection of human vital signs inside the vehicle now becomes part of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems [ADAS].
"The OleaSense system also augments next generation IoT telematics systems to automatically and immediately call first responders following a crash, sending critical vital sign statistics in order to assess the conditions and identities of the driver and passengers involved."
