New Stopcocks,Y-connectors IS LauncheD BY A. Hopf for Use in Enteral Feeding Systems

A. Hopf, a developer of injection moulding solutions, has launched new 3-way stopcocks and Y-connectors, designed for use in enteral feeding systems.

Made with Eastman Chemical Company's Tritan copolyester, the new stopcocks and Y-connectors are free of bisphenol A (BPA) and are designed with an interconnection safety to prevent mix ups between enteral and parenteral syringes.

A. Hopf sales manager Michael Hopf said due to the European Union's ban on BPA in infant care products such as soothers and feeding bottles, the company decided to use Eastman Tritan copolyester in its 3-way stopcocks or Y-connectors used in baby products.

"Tritan provides a durable BPA-free solution, that also meets our functional and aesthetic needs," Hopf added.

The company said after both ethylene oxide and gamma sterilization, the device's shape and dimensions remain intact.

In addition to enteral nutrition, the products can be used for cytostatic therapy and infusion and transfusion therapy, such as blood therapy.
