Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd's Has Hired Martin Burke as Chief Risk Officer

Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd’s, part of the MS&AD Group, has hired Martin Burke as chief risk officer.

In his new role, Burke will be responsible for the actuarial and risk management functions supporting risk identification, quantification and management.

Prior to Mitsui Sumitomo, Burke was finance risk manager within the enterprise risk management team at Catlin and has worked within the Lloyd's and company markets for 15 years.

In addition to Burke's appointment, Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd's has also hired Mark West as chief corporate actuary and Melanie Cooper as chief actuary for underwriting as well as Ayan Man as head of risk management.

Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd's CFO John Roome said that risk management has always been a key element of the company's management responsibilities.

"However, by investing in recruiting four more experienced market practitioners, Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd's has created a robust team that will be make an even greater contribution to the growth and profitability of the business going forward," Roome said.
