UK-based Riversimple has unveiled two new models as continuation to its Rasa hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
The new models were announced at the London Motor Show. One is a four-seater car and the other a van.
Rasa is claimed to offer 300 miles driving range on 1.5kg of hydrogen. The range of the two new models is anticipated to have a shortfall because of their extra weight.
The four-seat, four-door model is similar in profile to the original Citron DS. The sleek aerodynamic design of the van includes rear wheels for enhanced aerodynamics and an angular, stepped window-line.
Both the concept cars have been designed by designer Chris Reitz, who is known for his Fiat 500 design.
The project was originally funded by Welsh government with £2m grant and €2m European Union endowment.
Riversimple is now seeking crowdfunding to fund its operations and bring out it's new models into the market.
Riversimple founder Hugo Spowers was quoted by Gizmag as saying: "Over a twenty-year period, this approach will create thousands of new jobs and forge new revenue streams.
"Our circular business model aligns profitability with sustainability and has the potential to change the market dynamics in this resource-intensive industry."
Riversimple did not reveal the details about the development or mainstream production of the two concept cars..
The company plans to trial run 20 of pre-production Rasa cars later this year and sales are expected to start in 2018.
