Siempelkamp will close its Wolfratshausen site, which trades as Siempelkamp Handling Systems, with effect from 30 June 2013. Wolfratshausen currently accommodates the divisions Engineering, Design, Automation Engineering, Service and Sales for production finishing lines for the wood-based panels industry. Those divisions are to be largely covered in future by Siempelkamp‘s headquarters in Krefeld. SHS‘s servicing and spare-parts business had already been taken over retrospectively to 1 October 2012 by Siempelkamp Logistics & Service, and is to be continued from Wolfratshausen at least for the time being with the seven employees already working in that sector. The remaining 41 employees at the Wolfratshausen site will probably be dismissed for operational reasons. The work force at the Wolfratshausen site was informed of these decisions by Siempelkamp CEO Stefan Wissing at an employees‘ meeting held on 27 October. In a next step, Siempelkamp will start negotiations with the works council at the Wolfratshausen site on a balancing of interests and a social plan.
