Royal DSM, a life sciences and materials sciences firm based in the Netherlands, has opened new enzyme solutions, oils and fats unit office and laboratory in San Diego, California, US.
The new facilities are expected to support the company's business in sustainable enzyme-based solutions for the oil seed crushing and refining industry.
Last year, DSM acquired some assets of a San Diego biotech company, including Purifine enzyme technology as well as application laboratories that are incorporated into the new facility.
In February 2012, DSM increased price for its fish-based omega-3 products by at least 15% to offset the increased cost of sourcing crude fish oils.
DSM is a global science based company in health, nutrition and materials. With 22,000 employees and an annual turnover of $11bn, DSM has operations, sales offices and R&D centers across the world.
