FCA Says 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Gives Better Fuel Economy

New Chrysler Pacifica claimed to offer at least 12%higher fuel economy than the previous Chrysler Pacifica model. The Italian American carmaker says that improved fuel efficiency can contribute to 9% reduction in Global Warming Potential (GWP).

This increased fuel economy can be attributed to its upgraded Pentastar V-6 engine, TorqueFlite transmission, aerodynamic structure and overall reduction in the weight.

The Pentatar V-6 3.6 liter gas-powered engine has been upgraded with two-step variable-valve lift and cooled exhaust recirculation along with weight reduction in engine.

Fiat Chrysler has used TorqueFlite transmission with the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica . It has 9.81 ratio spread and unique calibration designed to launch the vehicle better, smooth gear shifts and overall increased mileage.

The body has also been designed to cut down the weight which weighs 250 pounds less than its predecessor.

The minivan also features Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology.

Apart from this, the company is also planning to introduce a hybrid version later this year, which can run solely on electricity for 30 miles.

The company says that it has used industry-standard software to calculate and compare the new minivan's GWP. The vehicle has been tested over 124,274 miles (200,000 km) of operation.

FCA group executive council, product development and head of product portfolio management, Mark Chernoby said: "The Pacifica isn't just engineered for today."

"This vehicle is designed and crafted to enhance the lives of our customers for years to come."

Chernoby said: "Total environmental impact is an important metric to consider as we introduce new fuel-efficient technologies."
