Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) has unveiled the new technologies, Green Hybrid, to be used in its upcoming 2014 vehicles.
New technologies include Insta-Pure cabin filtering systems, new motor technology and new 48V battery systems, implementation of which are claimed to improve fuel efficiencies by over 20%.
The 48VDC vehicle voltage platforms use BYD's Iron-Phosphate batteries and are claimed not to be delayed by the power losses that occur while usage of the normal lower-voltage systems.
Insta-Pure cabin filtering technology is claimed to rotate, scrub and filter the cabin air in about three to five minutes in order to protect drivers and passengers from city PM2.5 issues (Particulate Matter up to 2.5micrometers in size).
The company will combine the technology with the vehicle's air conditioning system and is planning to launch it in the new BYD S6 premier models scheduled to debut in 2013.
BYD also unveiled the next-generation dual-mode electric vehicle Qin, which uses its Dual Mode II system.
In hybrid mode, Qin generates an output of 223kW of power and 440Nm of torque, while offering range of 50km on a single 10 KWh charge, 0-100kmph in 5.9 sec and a top speed of 185kmph, with fuel consumption of 2L for 100km.
