Southern California based SM Ingredients has developed a new proprietary soluble fiber named as Logifiber, aiming to diversify its ingredient portfolio.
The company claimed that Logifiber can potentially change the landscape of the ingredient industry.
SM Ingredients managing director Robyn Marantette said: “We have an evolving marketplace where product integrity consistently remains a chief concern.
“To that end, Logifiber has undergone proven test methods to certify nutritional value and product competence. Such standardized tests enhance our partners’ confidence in the purity of this ingredient, which in turn ensures the integrity of their own products.”
According to SM Ingredients, Logifiber possesses heat and acid stability along with lower water activity. It is also said to have a superior texture, taste and mouth-feel.
The new soluble fiber is also less intrusive on the digestive process as it has lower scoring levels on the glycemic index.
Logifiber’s intended efficacy is achieved through its improved performance characteristics, making it a potential new ingredient to replace the existing options.
Headquartered in Orange County, SM Ingredients supplies its products to the food, nutrition, animal, and beverage industries.
The ingredient company was founded in 2008 by Steve Marantette, an industry veteran.
Its portfolio includes prebiotic fiber based products, cellulose ethers, sweeteners alongside other specialty ingredients.
At the end of last month, SM Ingredients revealed its new global mission and corporate identity.
It plans to showcase its products further at the Supply Side West ingredients and solutions tradeshow in Las Vegas, scheduled to be from 4-8 October.
