Beam Charging, a US-based subsidiary of Car Charging, is planning to install 21 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across upper Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island.
The company has received $300,000 from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under Governor Cuomo's Charge NY initiative, which is aimed at increasing EV stations across the state.
NYSERDA president and CEO John B. Rhodes said that under Governor Cuomo's leadership, New York is continuing to make a significant investment in the infrastructure needed to promote the growth of energy-efficient electric vehicles.
CarCharging chief executive officer Michael D. Farkas said,"Since our inception, we have diligently worked on developing the EV charging infrastructure in New York and we believe that the Governor's plans to reform regulations to facilitate EV charging and utility rate incentives will further promote the adoption of EVs."
Beam Charging uses Level II charging stations, which has the capacity to provide 240 volts with 32 amps of power, enough to quickly recharge an EV's battery.
