Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has started the production of its compact segment vehicle, the Rapid Spaceback at its main factory in Mlada Boleslav.
The Rapid Spaceback stage is scheduled for its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September 2013 in Germany, while it will be launched in European markets starting from October.
The manufacturer has implemented new equipment for car body production, a fully-automated paint shop and new press line as part of the expansion of the manufacturing facility in order to accommodate the production of the new model vehicles, which includes new welding robots.
Currently, the Rapid Spaceback produced along with the Fabia model, Octavia, Octavia Combi and Rapid at the Mlada Boleslav plant.
According to the company, the new vehicle is the first compact car offered with practical Skoda features in a hatchback and is claimed to offer better space, safety and low fuel consumption.
In April 2013, the company had started the operations of a new logistics warehouse that will supply parts to improve vehicle and powertrain production speed.
