Jeep Creates 75th Salute Wrangler Concept

Jeep has introduced a new concept edition to mark the brand’s 75th year of existence in the worldwide automotive scenario.

The Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept showcases rugged functionality with heritage design cues initially seen on original Jeep military vehicles.

Jeep, since its introduction in 1941 has been associated very much with the military. After World War II in 1945, several Jeep models found their way into various civilian applications.

FCA Global Jeep Brand head Mike Manley said: “We are creating this unique Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute concept vehicle in celebration of the brand’s legendary history, and to demonstrate that 75 years later, today’s iconic Jeep Wrangler is instantly recognizable and clearly connected to the original Willys MB.

“Since they were first produced in 1941, Jeep vehicles have been the authentic benchmark for off-road capability, having mastered more terrain, led more adventures and provided drivers more freedom than any other vehicle before or since.”

According to FCA, the original jeep has been designed keeping in view ‘function over form’ and it says that this design cue is still evident in the new Salute Concept vehicle.

The all new Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute concept is powered by a 3.6 liter Pentastaar V-6 engine coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The concept vehicle has been produced at the Toledo plant in Ohio from same the assembly line where Jeep Wrangler was first produced.

The modern interpretation of Wrangler Salute has two doors and highlights the rugged functionality with heritage design cues where B-pillars and doors being absent.

Some features include 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in 32-inch military non-directional tires, hood latches, rear mounted spare time, steel from and back bumpers with two hooks and low back canvas seats, echo the original military jeep vehicles.

Other features include customised wooden hood blocks, side mirrors, as well as bronze commemorative fender badges.
