Think of 284, 000 Units with Defective Tail Lamps

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz is recalling 284,000 units of its C-Class sedans in the US and Canada due to an electrical issue with the tail lights.

The recall involves certain units of the Mercedes C300, C350 and C63 sedans from 2008 through 2011 model years.

According to documents filed with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall was provoked by defective electrical ground connection that could cause the tail lights to dim or fail, increasing the risk of a crash.

About 252,867 units of the total recalled cars were sold in the US, while the remaining recalled cars were sold in Canada, and no other markets are claimed to be affected.

Under the recall, the company will replace the bulb holders as well as the corroded connectors. There have been no reports of injuries or damages related to the recall.

The company plans to notify the users in June 2014 and expects to complete the recall issue by September 2014.
