Bemis Closes Two Packaging Plants

Packaging company in the US Bemis is set to close its two twin cities plants in the US, one in St Louis Park and the other one in Minneapolis by 2012 end.

The plants which manufacture flexible packaging for food under the Curwood brand came under Bemis' control along with 21 other facilities when the company acquired Alcan for $1.2bn in 2010.

The St Louis Park plant will be closed by 31 August 2012 and the Minneapolis plant will be closed between 1 October and the end of 2012 startribune.com reported.

Bemis, which has about 45 factories in North America produces plastic packaging and makes packaging for products ranging from diapers to grass seed to snacks, as well as pressure-sensitive packaging and sealed plastic for medical products.
