US auto maker Chrysler is planning to recall about 630,000 vehicles worldwide, over various issues in different models.
The recall affects 409,000 units of the 2010 and 2012 model year Jeep Patriot and Compass small sports utility vehicles (SUV) across the globe due to the defective air bag and seat-belt problems.
About 221,000 units of the 2012 and 2013 Jeep Wranglers equipped with the Pentastar 3.8L V6 engine and automatic transmission are also expected to be recalled by the company due to fluid leaks, which is damaging automatic transmissions.
A software error in the Patriots and Compasses is expected to delay the deployment of the side air bags and seat-belt tightening mechanisms, which may result in injuries during crashes.
Both the recalls are expected to start in May 2013, under which the company is anticipated to inspect and replace the defective part if necessary.
