Renault has inaugurated the Renault Algérie Production car manufacturing plant in Oran region of Algeria.
This is the first plant of Renault in the country, and is expected to produce the new Renault Symbol, a car targeted towards the Algerian market.
The plant will have one production line with capacity to produce 25,000 units per year.
A second unit is under construction which will expand the production capacity to 75,000 vehicles per year.
The expanded facility will have closer integration of suppliers, as well as body and paint shops.
Renault Algérie Production has hired close to 350 staff in recent months who were trained at the automotive training center (CFPA) in Oran.
The new Renault Symbol designed for users in Algeria will feature an improved GPS navigation system along with higher standard of equipment.
