OrderStorm is hosting a theme design contest for all WordPress theme developers and designers that want to expand their offerings and gain a new distribution channel. Interested theme designers can submit an original theme that showcases the OrderStorm eCommerce plugin for WordPress by September 12, 2012. Winners will be selected by an open vote on the OrderStorm.com website.
The prize for the top five best themes is a showcase on the OrderStorm.com website where the winning themes will be available for sale. Winners will get 100% of the profits from the sale of their themes. Additional prizes include links from the OrderStorm.com website and lots of social media buzz.
"We get requests for theme recommendations that will look great with our plugin all the time", said OrderStorm founder, Jodie Barr. "OrderStorm will promote the contest winners like crazy".
Theme designers can use any or all of the features of the eCommerce plugin in their design. The plugin files are open source so designers can create custom templates and layouts of landing pages, products and categories. The plugin offers two widgets that are optional in the design. The 'categories menu' widget is used to display a list of categories in a side bar. The 'shopping cart status' widget can be used either in the sidebar or elsewhere in the design and shows products currently in the shopping cart plus a running total.
