Japanese Automakers Are Set to Recall More Than Half a Million Cars Worldwide Over Issues

Japanese automakers Honda Motor, Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Motors are set to recall more than half a million cars worldwide over issues related with Takata made air bag inflators.

This new recalls make the Takata-related recalls across all brands to around 20 million since 2008, Reuters reported.

Honda is expected to recall around 400,000 vehicles, including about 177,000 in Japan. It would recall 11 models such as the Stream minivan, Fit subcompact and Civic hybrid.

About 100,000 cars will be recalled in Europe and 70,000 in Asia-Pacific.

Meanwhile, Nissan would recall around 152,000 cars globally. It includes 82,000 vehicles in Japan, 49,000 in Europe and 6,000 in China.

Mitsubishi is expected to recall 304 Lancer sedans in Japan.

This recall is corresponding with a recent recall by Toyota Motor after an "unusual deployment" of a passenger-side air bag at a scrap yard in Japan, Reuters said.

Recently, Nissan planned to recall around 470,000 sport utility vehicles and cars globally due to a possible fuel leak.
