Hyundai has added the ‘hands-free smart trunk’ feature with automatic opening for its 2016 Equus premium luxury sedan under the Ultimate model.
With the feature, the owner of the vehicle can open the trunk by standing for a few seconds a few feet away from the trunk with the keys in pocket or purse.
The feature was introduced after considering the need for making it convenient to open the trunk when hands are preoccupied with carrying shopping bags.
It is being billed as a deviation from other cars in which the driver is required to kick near a sensor below the trunk to trigger the hands-free mode.
The Equus has been supplied with both 'normal' and 'sport' modes.
While the air suspension 'sport' mode makes way for a more controlled damping, the 'normal' one claims to offer ride comfort retaining a well-controlled handling demeanor.
There is provision for snow mode that upholds safety and convenience while belting down the road in adverse weather conditions marked with ice and snow.
The exterior of the Equus flaunts a sporty design with a 19-inch turbine-blade alloy wheel design in a polished silver finish. The headlamps contain chrome contrasted with black-out finishes.
The electro-hydraulic steering as well as front and rear parking assistance system make it easy to park the sedan in an urban setting. It has got 39.6 foot turning circle and variable-effort steering system.
Hyundai's 5.0-liter Tau DOHC V8 engine produces 429hp at 6,400rpm and 376lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000rpm, with a higher specific output (85.8 hp/liter) than its premium luxury competitors.
