Specialty papers supplier NewPage has unveiled FlexPack Essential, a flexible packaging paper designed for applications in food packaging.
The new product is claimed to comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards for food contact, and is used for packaging that requires a smooth, semi-gloss finish as well as works with emulsion, solventless and solvent laminations.
Available in 22.5-55lb weights, FlexPack Essential can also be used in medical packaging, offers brand owners a sustainable flexible packaging option, compared with traditional film substrates.
NewPage specialty papers business and product development director Jim Sheibley said, "With the creation of FlexPack Essential, NewPage offers brand owners the ability to add more renewable content to their flexible packaging without compromising on-the-shelf performance."
Headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio, the company runs paper mills in Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
