The US deputy agriculture secretary Krysta Harden and Honduras secretary of agriculture and Livestock Jacobo Paz have signed an agreement to support agricultural development and trade in Honduras through Food for Progress Program.
As part of this new development, the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service will deliver food products valued at approximately $17m.
It includes 30,000 metric tons of US yellow corn and 18,000 tons of US soybean meal.
Harden said: "The Food for Progress Program is a cornerstone in USDA's efforts to support sustainable agricultural production in developing nations and promote agricultural trade.
"Today's agreement continues USDA's successful partnership with the Honduran government and the private sector under Food for Progress and the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program."
Meanwhile, the Honduran government will implement projects to improve agricultural productivity and enhance farmers' access to information and market skills.
The projects will focus on building government capacity, and strengthening local, regional and international trade in agricultural products.
