Audi is planning to launch an upgraded version of the Q3 which will feature advanced powertrain and fuel-efficient cylinder deactivation technology.
The vehicle is expected to be equipped with 1.4-liter engine and will feature "displacement on demand" which is designed to shut down the two cylinders when not needed making the vehicle more fuel efficient.
Automotive News cited Audi Q3 technical project management Michael Zeilinger as saying: "The greatest fuel consumption advantage is in the low to moderate engine load range.
"In this way we were able to reduce [combined] fuel consumption to 5.5 liters per 100km [42.8 mpg], which corresponds to 127 grams of CO2 per kilometer."
The Q3 is also expected to feature a new three-dimensional, sculpted single-frame grille, optional torque vectoring and standard xenon headlights.
The company is also planning to revise RS Q3 which comes with a 2.5-liter TFSI engine which is also expected to be featured in the TT RS coupe.
