Canadian fruit and vegetable processing firm Pride Pak Canada is planning to establish processing plant in the Worthington Cylinders BernzOmatic manufacturing site in Orleans County, US.The Canadian vegetable processor will invest more than $9m to acquire and develop the property, Buffalo Business First reported.
The investment involves purchase of new machinery and creation of up to 200 jobs within the first five years of operation.
The firm currently offers fresh cut fruits and vegetables as well as packaged salad mixes to North American retail stores and food service customers.
Recently, Orleans County Economic Development Agency CEO Jim Whipple shared a proposal for a 20-year Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement for Pride Pak during a public hearing.
Whipple was quoted by Buffalo Business First as saying: "We hope that the incentives will cement Orleans County's intent to provide for the project."
Earlier this month, the company also proposed a plan to set up a new vegetable processing, packaging and distribution facility at the former BernzOmatic property.
