Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has commemorated its first anniversary in South Australia having carried in excess of 2.5 million kg of cargo from the state since inauguration in November 2012.
South Australian Emirates SkyCargo manager Jason Brown said: “Performance has been strong over the first 12 months, especially into key markets in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and New Zealand, which has helped South Australian industries make their mark globally.
“Our Boeing 777-300ER aircraft have the capacity to carry up to 20 tonnes of freight per flight, and we’ve seen significant trends in the export of commodities such as pharmaceuticals, skin care products, chilled meat and seafood, wine, mining and communications equipment,” he said.
In the 2012-13 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo carried 2.1 million tonnes of cargo across its network, contributing 15 per cent (US$ 2.8 billion) of the airline’s total transport revenue.
