Cargotec's New Technology and Competence Centre Fuels Ideas

Cargotec’s new technology and competence centre fuels ideas. Construction of the centre drew boldly on the latest innovations in the field. Boldness paid off through energy efficiency.

Cargotec manufactures machinery and solutions for cargo handling. The centre is scheduled for completion in December 2012 and was subject to high demands: the buildings must reflect Cargotec’s brand, be modifiable, be inspiring as a workplace and be energy efficient.

The new centre will bethe site of equipment testing and prototype development. It will also be home to maintenance activities and office premises. The centre is being built by NCC.

Mr Matti Sommarberg CEO of Cargotec’s chief technology officer tells about high demands placed on the centre. Cargotech “The buildings must reflect Cargotec’s brand and be an inspiring workplace, since it is home to innovations. The modern office premises are modifiable to requirements and must adapt to any changes in working practices. They also had to be energy efficient.”

According to Jussi lehtonen site manager at NCC, a number of reasons were behind the choice of energy panels for the outside walls.

Mr Jussi noted that “Energy panels had an important role when examining energy efficient building as a whole. Ruukki’s panels enabled the architect’s plan of a multicoloured façade at optimum cost efficiency.”
