Honda is planning to expand the Takata airbag related recall to three million vehicles in the US.
Previously the company recalled around 2.8 million vehicles mostly in humid areas of the US, where humidity could make the inflators more vulnerable to rupture and spray sharp metals on to the driver.
Bloomberg reported Honda spokesman Ben Nakamura saying that the additional 3 million vehicles will be a part of the company's existing safety improvement campaign.
The three million vehicles will be in addition to the nearly seven million vehicles the company has recalled since 2008 in the US due to the same issue.
Honda aims to get more information about the conditions of air bags and inflators with the latest recall and is planning to recall around 135,000 vehicles in Japan and 400,000 vehicles in China, reported Wall Street Journal.
The company will be getting air-bag inflators from Autoliv to replace the Takata air bags, which has affected around five million vehicles by Honda, according to NHTSA
