Porsche has unveiled Mission E which can give a mileage of 500km on a single charge and give a tough competition to Tesla Model S P90D model.
Futuristic Mission E model will not require plugging in to be charged and can accelerate from 0- 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds.
Mission E is the first all-electrically powered four-seat sports car by the German automaker and the car combines the emotional design of a Porsche with new performance parameters and the forward-thinking practicality of the first 800-volt drive system.
It features two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) which combined can produce 600 hp.
The motors can develop their full power even after multiple accelerations at short intervals.
Mission E is capable of travelling for over 500 km on one battery charge, and with the company's innovative 800-volt technology it will only take the car about 15 minutes to get around 400 km more driving range.
It features "Porsche Turbo Charging" system, which is placed on a moveable body segment on the front left wing in front of the driver's door, and the technology platform can be connected to a conventional 400-volt charging station as well.
The company has come up with coil that can be embedded in the floor of the garage, and when the car is parked over it, the energy will be transferred without cables to a coil on the car's under body.
No other automaker has come up with such a charging technology.
The car features a driver's display which is curved, low-profile and free-standing while it has eye tracking feature which detects where the driver is looking, via camera.
It also features a Holographic display that extends into the passenger's side, showing individually selectable apps, which are stacked in virtual space.
The car is expected to give tough competition to Tesla Model S P90D model which promises nearly 300 miles, and can accelerate from 0- 60 in 2.8 seconds.
