Recall for 32,325 Units of Its Small SUV IX35 in Australia Due to Defects

South Korean car maker Hyundai has issued a recall for 32,325 units of its small SUV ix35 in Australia due to defects in car’s steering wheel-mounted airbags.

The recall, which affects ix35 SUVs built between January 2011 to December 2013, is part of a broader global action that affects more than 137,000 vehicles worldwide.

According to the reports, the recall was prompted by improperly fitted airbag in the steering wheel resulting in failure of the horn.

Hyundai Australia said that an incorrectly tightened bolt could result in the misalignment of the airbag module, possibly affecting its deployment, and could also affect the operation of the horn.

"It will not cause the airbag to deploy unintentionally," the Hyundai Australia added.

"The effectiveness of the airbag could be reduced if the bolt is not tightened properly."

Hyundai claims that there have been no reported incidents in Australia but customers may notice a rattle in the steering wheel.
